A New Year always gives us fresh enthusiasm and the desire to revamp our lives. If you’re planning on sprucing up some rooms in the house this year, but are already starting to lack motivation (or funds) then these quick revamp ideas for the living room will get you going again.

1. Deep Clean

You don’t need to start investing in all new interior design trends to revamp the living room, sometimes a deep clean is all that is required. Everyone loves a bit of a spring clean in the new year, and this is the perfect way to give a tired living room more panache. When deep cleaning make sure you get behind and underneath all of the furniture, as well as tackling areas that haven’t been touched in a while. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the difference a good clean can make.

2. Lick of paint

If the walls, ceilings and floors are looking a bit worn, then it may be time to get the paintbrushes out. Cover up all of the furniture in your room, walk away for 20 minutes and then come back in. You’ll instantly notice how much work needs doing on the key areas of your living room. Neutral colours are best for lounges, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add a splash of colour. Perhaps a feature wall in duck egg blue? Alternatively plain white walls with painted black floorboards? Whatever you decide always make sure you test a small area, with your chosen paint, first.

3. Key Furniture Pieces

Just one key piece of furniture can completely transform your living room, so invest wisely. Work out what the focal points are of your room currently and work with those. Swap your battered couch for a leather Chesterfield or your worn out dresser for an updated version. If you don’t have the money to change something entirely then consider just giving your furniture a makeover. You can sand down and paint old wooden furniture or update the sofa with brand new cushions.

4. Windows and Curtains

Many people neglect their windows and curtains, even though they make a huge difference to any room. With your living room, make sure that your windows are sparkly clean, freshly painted and adorned with gorgeous curtains. You can match your curtains to other soft furnishings in the home or go for something neutral that will work with everything. Finish off your window with a potted plant or vase of flowers for an instant revamp.

5. Accessories

If you only have a little amount of money and time, then just consider accessorising your living room. There are plenty of small items you can use to add some life into your lounge; from cushions to photo frames. Those extra touches can make such a huge difference to the overall look and feel of the room. Don’t overload with accessories, however, or your living room will begin to look cluttered and messy.
