Take The Kids To Attractions For Free!

As you know, I’m always on the lookout for bargains. And if I can push my bargain hunting to provide freebies, you know I’m going to do it. The holidays are fast approaching. Many families are worried about the cost of taking their kids out places without breaking the bank. And with nieces and nephews staying, the bill can get very high very quickly. Fortunately, there are plenty of things you can see for free this winter that your kids are going to love.

Many states and local authorities regularly commission artists to create new installations. Works of art include statues, temporary buildings, and sculptures. But there is a shift toward interactivity at the moment. Many artists creating public works are offering the local community interaction with the art.

Things like Interactive Lighting Installations provide beautiful works of art to use. For example, touching them can create changes in the light color. Some produce different sounds as a direct result of your movements. There are plenty of these to find near you right now. They might offer cascading water effects, light shows, or musical sounds. And your kids are going to love seeing what they can make them do next!

We’re approaching the holiday season. Plenty of musicians and performers provide entertainment in the street and the malls. You can find educational entertainment either for free or for a small donation in most shopping centers as we head toward Christmas. Kids can play or color in pictures. There are story reading events in most book stores too in the run-up to the holiday sales.

Street performers provide lots of awe-inspiring entertainment for children. Some local areas have small funfairs offering rides and other activities. Some will charge a small fee, but many offer free things to see and do. Best of all, you are probably already there, so you haven’t had to add travel costs to your outing. Street theater is one of my favorite things to watch while I’m out and about. Puppet shows, nativities, and even Christmas caroling can be great fun to see.

Sometimes, you can find pop-up ice skating rinks, or dodgem cars in the precinct or mall. You can often buy multiple tickets to get one free if you have lots of kids in tow. Community centers and schools often hold fetes and craft fayres at this time of year. Local musicians and singers often provide festive entertainment to enjoy for the visitors free of charge.

This time of year often sees plenty of fireworks and other spectacles after the sun goes down. You don’t need to pay to enter these events. Instead, why not enjoy them from a nearby location? This type of event can be seen from some distance away. It’s not necessary to be right in the heart of things to enjoy them.

There are plenty of things to see and do at this time of year. From interactive art work to free museum entry and activities, your kids needn’t be stuck at home and bored. Get out and about in your community to see what’s on for free this season.
