Party Season Is Here: Here’s How You Can Look Your Best!

The festive season is upon us again, meaning parties galore and visiting family and friends who we might not get a chance to see much throughout the year. So for this reason, it’s natural that we want to look our best! Feeling good about how you look gives you the confidence you need to get out there and really enjoy the festivities. Here are some of the ways you can make sure you’re looking great over Christmas.

Find Flattering Outfits

When Christmas is the chance to eat, drink and be merry, most of us gain a little extra holiday weight. For this reason, to feel confident you should choose outfits that flatter. If you know you’ve put on a couple of extra pounds (or are going to a party where you’re going to be eating and drinking during the night) you might want to give the form fitting and figure hugging clothing items and miss and go for something a little more forgiving. Gorgeous flowy fabrics will skim over you, and you look glamorous without feeling self-conscious! If you have a staple outfit that you bring out for parties, be sure to try it on in advance. That way you can make sure it still all fits as it should and that you still feel great in it. Since it’s Christmas you can go all out with sparkle when it comes to clothing, but if plainer outfits are more your thing you can accessorise with fun jewelry, bags and shoes instead.Heels will elongate and make your legs look slimmer, but go for a height you can comfortably stand and walk in. No one wants to spend a party hobbling around in pain!

Experiment With Makeup

Speaking of sparkle, another area where you can really have fun over the festive season is with your makeup. You could go with a neutral eye and then a bold red lip or a full on sparkly pout. Alternatively, you could go more muted on the lips and focus the attention on a stunning smokey eye with tons of festive sparkle. Focusing on one area like this allows you to really have fun with your look without looking clownish or overdone. If you don’t usually wear makeup, don’t feel like you need to go out and spend a fortune on products. Check out Youtube videos for budget holiday looks, many items you can get for a few dollars from the high street or even dollar stores. If you want to do something a little special and glam up for your festive parties, then this is an excellent way to go about it. You can enhance your natural beauty or go all out with an evening makeup look. Even a little foundation, some blush and mascara will look really pretty and make a difference especially if you don’t usually wear makeup. If you don’t like it or it goes wrong you can always wash it off, so might as well give it a go!

Have Your Teeth Whitened

Stunning white teeth are the perfect accompaniment to any outfit or makeup look. If this is something you have been looking into doing, don’t put it off until the new year! Whitening treatments these days can be done in just one hour and lift the teeth up to six shades which is incredible. You’ll get to show off your sparkling new smile in at all of your party photos and is a great way to give you a confidence boost. You could check out a site like Dentists Nhere.me to find a local dentist offering cosmetic treatment.

Change Your Hairstyle

Another fun way to glam up is to do something a little different with your hair. As a busy parent you probably find yourself wearing your hair in a practical style most of the time, so party season is the chance to do things a little differently. Again Youtube has lots of tutorials for all different skill levels. You could purchase an inexpensive curling wand, a quick and easy way to achieve glamorous curls. You could straighten your hair into a sleek, sophisticated ‘do. You could experiment with an updo if that’s more your style. Alternatively, you could treat yourself to a trip to the hairdresser on the day of the party, and once they have finished ask them to style it for you. That way you kill two birds with one stone and get a beautiful professional style to wear in the evening. Some hairspray and just being careful with it should mean it lasts through to the party without any issues.

Pamper Your Skin

Winter weather is harsh on our delicate facial skin. If yours is feeling dry, tight and uncomfortable, it’s a sign that it needs some serious nourishment. Treat yourself to a hydrating face mask, and follow up with an eye cream and moisturiser. Ideally, you should stick to a skin care routine all throughout the year since it will prevent or slow the signs of ageing and keep skin looking it’s best. But if you have neglected yours recently, a good pamper session should perk it up. You could even go to a salon and treat yourself to a facial. Here they will diagnose your skin type and recommend which products to use which is beneficial for all year round. Exfoliating off any dryness and nourishing your skin will give you a fresh ‘base’ to apply your makeup to, and everything will go on a lot better.

Consider a Spray Tan

Combat pale winter skin by having a spray tan! We all know tanning beds are bad for us, but a spray tan is perfectly fine. It lasts for up to ten days and can give you a gorgeous tanned glow like you’ve just stepped off a beach. If you’re not quite happy with how your outfit looks this is a great way to go as it will make you look completely differently. If you don’t want to get a professional spray tan you could go with an at-home product, be sure to use a mitt though as you don’t want to be stuck with fake tan hands! You will need to choose a tanner which works for your skin tone, for example if you have paler skin go for ‘light medium’, any darker and it will look orange and unnatural. If you’re naturally little darker, go for ‘medium dark’ or it probably won’t show up on you. For best results, apply your fake tan the night before then shower in the morning. This will leave you with a more subtle and natural looking glow behind. To go a step further, a very light shimmer on the legs and decolletage area is a great party look which works especially well with a tan.

Have a Little Work Done

While this isn’t something you should jump into, if you’ve been considering it for a while getting it done now means you can show off your new looks over Christmas. Many procedures these days are non-invasive with no downtime needed to recover, you can simply walk into the clinic and walk back out looking like a more refined version of yourself. It could be lip injections, Botox or facial fillers to name a few. You can even have non-surgical nose jobs and liposuction these days which are incredible ways to achieve the look you want without going under the knife. There can be a stigma around cosmetic surgery but if it’s done sensibly (not to extreme levels or as an aspiration to look ‘perfect’ since this doesn’t exist) there’s no harm in having a little something done if it will make you feel more confident. Always think your decision through and use a trusted clinic.

Be Happy and Smile!

No matter how you look on the outside, if you’re not happy on the inside, it will show. Christmas can be a stressful time; it’s financially draining and extremely busy so even the most upbeat of people can feel the strain. But look on the bright side, and remember everything you have to be happy for. Try using calming techniques such as meditation, or treat yourself to a hot pampering path if you’re feeling overwhelmed. Being calm, happy and content on the inside will reflect in how you look and allow you to look even more beautiful!

Whether you want to make a dramatic difference to your appearance or just enhance your natural beauty to feel a little more ‘put together’ there’s lots you can do. So have fun with it, and ideally experiment before the party so you have time to tweak and refine different looks.
