Transport

So perhaps all your packing is done. You’re eager to get going. But then you realise you haven’t even thought about how you are getting your boxes from one place to the other. It may seem like an obvious one. But many of us can get distracted with the whole packing thing and forget about the transport side. However, you don’t need to panic. There are some local moving companies who can be appointed. They will handle everything. So relax, make the appointment, and continue looking forward to moving day.

Lists will help you through

Writing things down will help clear your mind. So take advantage of that. It will allow you to prioritise the things that need to be done and when they need to happen.

Packing not done

Maybe everything is in place to get everyone from one place to the other, but you haven’t even started packing yet. It can be quite a helpless chore. Many of us will put it off and tell ourselves we will begin tomorrow. But tomorrow never comes and before you know it your move day is round the corner. While it may feel like a huge task, the biggest thing you can do is take a step back and take stock of your situation. Get some boxes and packing materials. Logically workout where you can begin and get as many people involved as possible. Once you start you will begin to see real progress and find everything is done before you know it.

Have an essentials box

Some people don’t think about those first moments in a new place. Or perhaps you do, but you think more about the end result. Everything unpacked and you are enjoying your new home. But what about the time from getting the keys to an unpacked stage. This can take days sometimes weeks to get yourself organised. Which is why an essentials box will see you through. This should include things like a kettle and toaster. Coffee and tea. Maybe even some of those nice biscuits you like. Also include things like money, painkillers, plasters, candles and torches. Anything you think you may need in those first few hours and days. You won’t believe the difference your essentials box will make.

Keep a positive mindset

Finally, throughout the whole thing try and remember to keep a positive mindset. Moving is stressful enough without you feeling the pressure. So take a few deep breaths and try and savour the moment. As much as it is stressful, it’s also a new chapter of your life. Enjoy it.

I hope these last minute tips help you get a little more organised.
