10 Things You Can Do To Make Your Conservatory More Luxurious This Spring

We made great plans and were so excited when our pride and joy was first built. We handed our life savings over to the conservatory company, and sat in there every spare moment we had. Slowly though, and without us really noticing, the creeping menace of junk settled. The things we should throw away or stash in the shed, build up until it is too late. Wait though, it’s never too late, we will discuss in this article a few things you can do to reclaim your fine territory, improve the surroundings, and once again have a conservatory of which to be proud.

1. Declutter. Be brutal, that old fridge, bike parts and vacuum cleaner will have to be moved to the kitchen shed, and cupboard respectively. Why is the fridge in there I wonder? If it won’t fit in the kitchen, you shouldn’t have bought it. Get a smaller one.

2. A good clean will go a long way to restoring your conservatory to it’s former glory. Get the UPVC gleaming again with an appropriate cleaning product.

3. That old vinyl floor isn’t very attractive. Laminate flooring comes in many different varieties from hardwood to tile effect. Laying a laminate floor these days is fairly easy thanks to the click system. It can be laid in a day without getting glue everywhere. Use a good quality underlay to keep it warm underfoot.

Your conservatory is looking better already if you have got this far isn’t it?

4. Blinds are the next step. They come in a large variety of styles and colours. Choose from:

  • Roman

  • Venetian

  • Wooden

  • Vertical

  • Roller

  • Solar

Blinds are easy to fit and have an instant, visual impact in your room. Having said that, however, if you wish to have electrically powered roof blinds, it may be best to use the services of the experts.

5. It is time to find a high quality suite such as Rattan garden furniture from EW, or one of the many other fine ranges out there. This is likely to be your biggest expense, but it is well worth it. Since you intend to spend a lot of time in your new room, it is best to sit in something very comfortable. Be careful not to buy a suite that is too big though.

6. Fit a ceiling fan to keep the air moving on the hot days. Are you aware that ceiling fans can be used in cold weather when you have your heating on too? They will move the hot air that has risen back around the room. Keep them on slow speed for this effect.

7. Conservatories were originally invented for keeping exotic plants. Bring some greenery in your room. You don’t have to overdo it; a couple of broad leaf plants or a single rare specimen as a talking point will work fine.

8. Set the mood in the evenings with subtle lighting effects. Place some low powered table lamps around to create shadows and highlights.

9. Extend your central heating system by putting a radiator in your conservatory. It will save you having to use a portable heater which can be expensive to run.

10. Treat yourself to an air conditioning unit. They can be found for under two hundred pounds. You will need to close the outside doors though, you can’t cool the whole world down.

By following the above steps, you will have reclaimed your conservatory, and have a stylish place in which to relax. You work is not done, however. The creeping menace is always in the next room just waiting to pounce. But be on your guard, and you will be victorious.
