Fantastic Garden Projects for the Summer

With the summer slowly appearing on the horizon, it might be time to start thinking about outdoor DIY. In fact, you may already have decided something that you might like to do in your garden to spruce it up. The garden is often neglected and, as a result, sometimes falls into disrepair. The problem with the garden is that more often than not you’ll need good weather to be able to do anything.

You never know what the weather is going to be like this far in advance. But that shouldn’t stop you from planning what you want to do. Preparation is the key component in any DIY or renovation project. You need to know exactly how you are going to do something, how long it will take and the cost.

Once you have everything planned the process will be a lot more straightforward. You’ll be giving yourself a head start by planning before starting work. This will also allow you to account for any problems you may encounter. The trouble with not planning something is that you forget to consider the problems attached to the project. This can set you back a considerable amount.

Now there are several kinds of garden projects that you can do in the summer. Some will involve more work than others. But all should improve the look and value of your property.

  1. Fence

If you don’t yet have one you should consider putting up a fence up in your garden. A fence will act as the border to your property and will provide you with privacy and security. You will need to get ahold of some wood from Alsford Timber in order to build your fence. But you must remember that you need to get it right. You don’t want a stiff breeze to blow the thing over.

Once you’ve put your fence up you might want to think about applying sealant and a paint job. This will add a bit of colour and character to the fence, as well as making it more weather proof.

  1. Log Store

You could also think about making a log store. If you have a wood burner or open fire in your home it’s likely you will have logs. You need somewhere to keep these, and the garage isn’t always practical.

Over the colder months, you need to preserve the logs and make sure they don’t get damp. A log store is a great way of doing this. It is a tidy and trendy way of storing your logs all in the same place for easy access.

  1. Shed

If you don’t yet have a shed in your garden, then you will need to think about putting one up. Sheds can serve all manner of purposes and are a vital part of your garden. You can use them for storage and even as a temporary greenhouse for plants and herbs.

You can buy pre-assembled shed’s, but you might want to build your own instead from scratch. This will be a similar process to building the fence. This way you can also decide on the size of the shed and customise it to fit your needs.
