Why Every Bedroom Should Have A Dressing Table

When you’re brought up on Disney princess films, you begin to aspire to have your own, luxurious dressing table. After all, every princess has one. Even Ariel and she lives in the depths of the ocean. A big mirror to brush your glistening locks in. Draws for your nail varnishes, lipsticks, and perfumes (in an extravagant vaporizer, of course). Some of us are lucky. Our parents will find kiddy versions. Molded plastic with wobbly mirrors that won’t break when Action Man accidentally drives his tank into them. Covered in glitter hair scrunchies, slide clips and maybe even a miniature battery-powered hair dryer. However, once we’re too big to fit on the tiny chair that comes with it and we move on to the latest fad, we forget about our dressing tables. But why? Admittedly, no adult needs a tiny, plastic design made for kids. But actual dressing tables are a lifesaver for many. Here’s why you should consider bringing one into your bedroom.

Getting Ready Space

We all have a certain spot we like to get ready in. Whether quickly applying a little mascara for work or going all out with blow drying, straightening, curling and contouring for a night out. Is your spot on the floor in front of your full-length mirror? Spilling powder foundation on your floor and accidentally singing your carpet with heated hair styling tools? Well, that needs to change. A dressing table provides the perfect space to get ready. Some have inbuilt mirrors. These are great in the daytime when natural lighting radiates through your room. But at night this can be problematic. You could create your dressing table. A desk with space for your legs to sit comfortably underneath, a few drawers and your mirror placed on the wall. This is where the benefits come in. If you’re choosing your mirror, you can opt for a lighted mirror. These scream Hollywood elegance. Whether you opt for the traditional design, in which bright bulbs are placed around the edge of the mirror, or a more subtle, backlit piece. Quoizel Mirrors are a good example.

Storage

Chances are, you have a lot of hair, skincare, beauty and makeup products. Think about it. How many different things do you use when you’re getting ready? Facial moisturizer. Eye cream. Primer. Foundations, powders, blush. Eyeshadows, eyeliners, and mascaras. Hair mousse and hairspray. The list goes on and on. Unless you have your own, private bathroom, your housemates or partner will get frustrated with you hogging all of the room. Dressing tables offer storage space that can house all of your personal items. Drawers can be designated to certain belongings. This will help you keep organized and will also keep your housemates or partner happy. Other surfaces will remain junk free.

Personal Space

This space will be yours. Make sure that other people’s belongings don’t work their way into it. Keep it clean. Your dressing table should be a reflection of your personality. They’re usually dismissed as feminine items. This can be true. They can have intricately detailed designs in pretty colors. But not all are like this. You can get plain or bold colors. Eccentric or minimal designs.
