What Does The Best Version Of You Look Like?

Do you honestly think you’re the best version right now? If most of us were honest, we’d say no. That doesn’t mean we’re not good people. Not at all! It simply means there are a few areas in our lives we could definitely improve on. Aiming to be the best version of yourself is one of the greatest things you’ll ever do, not only for your enjoyment and quality of life, but for the people around you too.

Knowing The Best Version Of Yourself

How about starting off by listing the best qualities of yourself? Think about yourself when you’re being the best version of you. When you feel great and you just seem to be in flow with the world. Here’s what it might look like:

  • Relaxed
  • Positive
  • Mindful
  • Confident
  • Kind
  • Playful

Once you have this list, you can think about the things that bring this out in you. Is it spending quality time with your kids? Is it reading? Is it yoga? Write these things down and aim to do them more often. If you’re going to be the best version of yourself more often (after all, asking you to be the best version of yourself 100% of the time is unrealistic), you need to know what you’re like when you’re not being the best version of yourself. Make a list. It might go like this:

  • Snappy
  • Impatient
  • Negative
  • Overthinking
  • Irritable

Now think of the things that bring out these things in you. Is it trying to do too much at once? Is it failing to get your morning exercise in? Is it failing to get enough sleep? By knowing what brings out these negative qualities in you, you’ll better be able to avoid them.

More Tips To Be The Best Version Of Yourself

There are so many more things that can help you to become the best version of yourself and to know yourself better. Here are some ideas:

  • Take action – don’t just talk about the things you want to do. Take action! If you keep saying you want to get fit but you don’t do anything, start by simply putting on some training shoes and going for a short run. You can find lots of workouts online that take very little time to complete.
  • Be your own version – don’t be what anybody else wants you to be. Be the best version of you according to you!
  • Spend less time staring at a screen – you may work with a screen, but try to cut down screen time the rest of the time. Don’t mindlessly scroll or browse the internet if it’s not something you need to do. This wastes time and stops you from doing the things that really matter!
  • Protect yourself – make sure you are doing things to protect yourself now and in the future. Make sure your home is safe and secure. Exercise to protect your health. Get health insurance for peace of mind – find out more if you’re not sure where to begin. There are all kinds of things you can do to protect yourself.
  • Find ways to help others – helping others improves our well being in so many ways. It helps to give us meaning and purpose. You could help out at a homeless shelter or give money to an animal charity, for example.
  • Be more mindful – aim to live in the moment more often. It’s all too easy to worry about the past or the future, and fail to appreciate what we have now!

The Fear Of Failure/Success

If you know what you need to do to become the best version of yourself but you find yourself avoiding the steps you need to take, there could be many reasons for this. Some people have a fear of failure. Some people even have a fear of success. They might not immediately realize it, but these things stop them from taking the necessary steps. Perhaps you are worried about what people will think if you fail. You might even be worried about losing friends or having people talk behind your back if you succeed. Find ways to move past these fears. Digging deep and figuring out what you’re really afraid of, and how to overcome your limiting beliefs is a must if you want to become the best version of yourself. If you often find yourself self sabotaging, or unable to get past a certain point, it’s probably due to a limiting belief.

Now you know what to do, take small steps each day to become the best version of yourself. You owe it to yourself and your family!
