Well, don’t sweat it, as this guide will give you eight handy tips about what will help you create the perfect kid’s room.

So read on and get decorating!

1. Keep it bright

A simple design and color scheme may be suitable for adult bedrooms, however when it comes to kids’ rooms, usually the brighter the better! It is important to make the room feel warm and cozy so that they enjoy spending time there. Don’t be afraid to mix colors that you wouldn’t have thought about too – such as green and pink, which actually work really well together and create a nice inviting environment.

2. Have an abundance of storage space

If there is one thing we all know about kids, it is that they have a lot of… well, everything! From clothes to toys, shoes, jewelry and other accessories – you will need to make sure you have somewhere to keep it all. It is also advisable that you have most of the storage facilities at your child’s height so that they can reach it. This way they will learn to put things back themselves too.

3. Choose a theme

Having a theme in a child’s bedroom can be fun – especially if they have a particular passion. For example, if they like animals, you could try a jungle theme complete with green carpet and safari accessories. Or, if space is their thing, make sure you purchase some galaxy wallpaper; complete with metallic curtain poles and bedroom furniture.

4. Try removable wall transfers

If you want to put lots of decoration in your children’s room, but don’t want to permanently taint the walls, then removable wall transfers may be the perfect option. They can be bought cheaply from many local outlets these days, and you can even get your youngster to help put them on (or take them off) due to their easy application.

5. Get creative

Instead of the usual accessories of photo frames and pinboards, why not try something innovative? For example, you could try hanging things such as postcards on a colored string along the wall to make an interactive display, or even get some fairy lights which will add some sparkle to the room.

6. Buy bunk beds

If the room is going to have more than one child in it, then bunk beds are a great option to save space. They can also be a fun shared experience for brothers and sisters. Or even if it is just for one child, a bunk bed might be a great option when it comes to a friend staying over, as it will mean that you won’t have to invest in any campbeds.

7. Get an all-in-one

Why not go even one more step up from bunk beds and get an all-in-one fitting? This will feature such things as the bed, a desk, and a wardrobe and should mean that you have more floor space available in the room, as well as spend less time looking for furniture!

8. Don’t go too childlike

If your child is a bit older, then it would be recommended to not decorate their bedroom as something too childish as they may soon grow out of it – meaning you would have to re-decorate soon after. If the room has a theme, maybe add it in more to the accessories, which could be changed more easily and cheaply.
