Top 7 Ways for Stay at Home Moms to Make a Part Time Income

Is money tight because you are a stay at home mom without that second income? Saving money on childcare by choosing to stay at home with your children is noble, but often results in a very tight budget. There are so many things you can do to be frugal while embracing the one income lifestyle, but if you are thinking about earning a side income to help loosen the budget a bit, look no further. Euntrepneurs like Adrian Rubin have all had to make their start somewhere, and he is a great success story. Here are our top seven ways to make a part time income as a stay at home mom.

Blogging

Blogging is a popular way to make money, but it takes a lot of hard work and has little-to-zero immediate payout. If you aren’t super strapped for cash, it’s a great investment as you continue to earn off of older posts. You can start one for free on sites such as WordPress and Blogspot, but I highly recommend investing the $10 to register a domain name and $5-$10 a month for hosting. You don’t have to worry about your cotent on someone else’s site that can be taken down at any time. There are a litany of great guides and courses available. I, personally, took the Elite Blog Academy course. It’s a hefty investment, but pays for itself in spades! There are many free guides to help you get started if it’s not in your budget, such as ProBlogger.

Fiverr

Fiverr is a great way to market your skills and make some cash for them. People can buy services from you starting at $5 (hence the name), but services and extras can add up to a nice side income. There are so many opportunities on Fiverr, but I hear people do well who market social media, design, web services, and writing. The sky is the limit, however. If you have a hidden talent, show it off!

Etsy

Are you crafty? Have fun making crafts and sell them on sites like Etsy for a nice income.

Ebay

Sell off extra unwanted stuff on ebay. Have an eye for great sales or love thrift shopping? Try your hand at reselling items that you find at a steal. You could look into opportunities such as dropshipping, though they don’t have a great reputation. Other popular alternatives include Amazon, Top Hatter, and even Facebook Marketplace.

Surveys

There are so many survey companies out there that have amounted to very little money that I became pretty skeptical. I kept taking surveys to not make it past the screening and not earn anything from all those failed attempts. The key is to find the reputable survey companies and don’t expect to make a ton. Think of it as multitasking while watching tv or doing other mundane household tasks. I’ve had the best luck with Swagbucks (more on them below), Point Club, and IdeaShifters.

Swagbucks

Swagbucks is my favorite rewards site for many reasons. You earn swagbucks that you can redeem for gift cards (Amazon is my favorite and your first $25 Amazon gift card is discounted each month). Earn Swagbucks taking polls, shopping, watching videos (another great task while watching tv), surveys, games, searching the web, and more!

Uber

Love driving and have a good record? Why not make money giving rides around town with Uber or Lyft. Some people are making serious cash and it’s popular amongst the newly retired as well for this reason (what easier way is there to supplement retirement income?)

Have you tried any of these? Which have you had the most success with?
