Have a big clear out

First of all, put a day aside to remove all the unwanted garden debris and excess growth. It’s – probably – the toughest job, but even large gardens can be cleared in a day. Look at ivy, moss, and any overgrown plants that are starting to take up too much space. You can cut them back, but if they are a constant issue and a quick grower, it might be worth removing them. If you are looking for an easy life, you can even think about leaving dead stumps where they are. It’s a lot of work to remove them, and they can be good for the soil. Stumps can also add a little character to your garden.

Learn about your lawn

No matter how great your beds look, you need a great looking lawn to do it justice. Put some time aside at night to read up on how to maintain a perfect lawn, and it will keep your garden looking great. Now, it will cost you in time – your grass needs cutting once a fortnight at least. But, once you have it in a great condition, there isn’t much to it. An hour or so every two weeks isn’t a lot to ask for a great looking garden, right? Especially when it costs you far more time if you leave it to go wild.

Get involved with pots

Potted plants are so much easier to maintain than growing in soil. You have a lot more control over them, from water to pest control. If you want a fantastic looking garden but can’t afford the time to look after it, plants in pots will be a lifesaver. Grab yourself some easy maintenance plants and flowers. Butterfly Bush, ferns, and daylilies are some perfect examples. Also, it is essential that you go for perennials so that you can cut out time spent on ‘difficult’ plants. Think about rock cress, Miracle Lemony, and penstemons. All offer beauty – without any of the hard work.

Clean your paving

Make sure you take care of any garden paving you might have, too. It offsets the grass and greenery of your garden, and it needs regular cleaning. Again, after your spring clean, once a fortnight should be OK. Buy yourself a pressure hose to shorten the time it takes. You should be done in 10-15 minutes, depending on the amount of stone you have in your garden.

I hope these simple tips have shown you that it doesn’t have to take hours to keep your garden in great shape. There is a lot more to do, of course. But, these ideas will give you the perfect foundation to build from – and cost you only a little time. Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments section below!
