Saw

Saws will help you slice through any wood that needs cutting up. You will almost certainly need one if you love making your own furniture. But it isn’t that easy picking the right saw for you. After all, there are a lot to choose from. Most people will only need a basic hand saw. These are great for cutting through MDF, hardwood, softwood, plywood, and chipboard. However, if you want to cut shapes or in a curved line, you will need something a bit more advance. For this type of cutting, you will need the best portable band saw.

Wrenches

Wrenches’ main task is screwing in and loosening nuts and bolts. But, just as with saws, there are many different wrenches to choose from. Adjustable ones are the best all-round wrench as they can be fitted around most nuts and bolts. But it is always a good idea to have a variety of wrenches in your shed to suit a variety of jobs. Ratchet wrenches have a loose end, so they are great for getting into those hard-to-reach areas. But a crow’s foot wrench is perfect for working in very tight spaces.

A Drill

If you have just moved into a new home and are planning on hanging up lots of pictures and wall hangings, you are going to need a drill. These tools drill in nails to all types of hard walls and surfaces. They are also useful whenever you need to make a hole in a wall. For example, if you need to run a wire or cable into an adjacent room. When you are looking for a drill, choose a cordless one. Their extra mobility is extremely convenient, especially for any outside jobs.

Spirit Level

A spirit level is very important if you are putting up a new shelf or hanging a picture frame. If you don’t use one, you might end up with a wonky shelf! In the middle of the spirit level is a little phial which contains some liquid. In the liquid, you’ll see an air bubble. When you place the tool on your shelf or frame, you’ll know it is level because the air bubble will sit right in the middle of the liquid. If it is to one side, move the frame or shelf slightly until it is level. Voila! No more wonky surfaces in your home!

Once you’ve got these tools in your shed or toolbox, you’ll be ready to start your next big DIY project!
