The Steps I’m Taking To Redesign My Kitchen

The Steps I'm Taking To Redesign My Kitchen

At the end of the day, I have started to realise something. I am no longer looking forward to cooking in my kitchen. More and more often I reach into the drawers and pull out one of the takeaway menus, rather than putting on the hob and getting out the recipe book. But it is not because I have grown tired of cooking. I still quite enjoy trying out new dishes and seeing if they taste good. The fact is my kitchen looks out of date now, but I have decided to take action. I am going to give my kitchen an upgrade, and I have devised a plan on how to do it.

Step 1: Set A Cost

I know that redesign budgets in the house can easily get out of control and reach into the thousands. So, I have decided to plan a budget with the help of my family. I am writing a list of all the materials I need, a plan of what I hope the kitchen to look like and a list of new appliances I want to buy. I am also going to speak to a builder and designer to get an approximate price of the redesign. Once I am happy with that, I will start looking at the kitchen changes in turn.

Step 2: Getting Inspiration

I have to admit that home design is not my biggest forte, and I often take inspiration from other people. But there is nothing wrong with that, and if you want your own kitchen to look fantastic, it is safer to fall into the footsteps of another. I will be looking at lots of different blogs and websites for ideas on furniture, colour and lighting fixtures for the room. For instance, I will look at the work of a company like Lamps and Lighting. While this company caters to businesses; they have a wide portfolio of different styles of lightings for the room. Hopefully, it will give me some inspiration when looking at how to light my new kitchen.

Step 3: Getting Up To Date

As I already said, to me my kitchen seems out of date, and that does not just mean the style. It also refers to the tech. My hob looks old, and my oven seems ancient, so upgrades are a must in this redesign. I have already made the decision to replace the hob with a heat induction display that will look very stylish and futuristic. I also plan on getting an oven with a door that slides out of sight. I saw this tech online early in the year and was greatly impressed.

Step 4: Getting The Work Done

Some of the work will be easy to do myself. For instance, I can handle buying the appliances and setting them up where I want them in the room. But, I also want a new counter top, and I would like a breakfast bar in the centre of the room, underneath some spotlights. For this, I am going to need to hire additional help and spend a little money. But once the project is finished, I know my new kitchen is going to look fantastic.

Perhaps, my steps could help you when you plan your own redesign.
