I have suffered from sinus problems since I was 12 years old. Not only do I suffer from recurrent sinus infections, but I also have year round allergies and a slightly deviated septum. These sinus infections prevented me from doing many childhood activities. I was on constant rounds of antibiotics and I was also bed-ridden and throwing up from post nasal drip. When I had my tonsils removed they drained my sinuses which helped for about a year or so.
In addition to taking antibiotics, I also used saline nasal sprays, over the counter medications (such as SUDAFED® or other decongestants) and home remedies. I have eaten/inhaled spicy foods, breathed in steam, used neti pots and taken supplements including vitamin C. But, I have since learned that I over-used antibiotics because they were prescribed to me before tolerance issues became known. I honestly think it has a lot to do with some stomach issues I suffer from as well. As an adult I still have sinus problems, though infections are pretty rare. I still get sinus pressure and sinus headaches, which are not fun. I can definitely relate to anyone who suffers from these symptoms.
