It can sometimes be difficult for plus sized women to find fashionable plus size clothing that is flattering. Although it can be tempting, beautiful plus size women should never hide their bodies with plain and baggy clothes! A few simple styling tips can make finding flattering plus sized clothing a much easier process.

When shopping for plus sized clothing, keep the proportions of your body in mind. Everyone’s body is completely different, so find clothing that emphasizes your favorite parts of your body. When you find the types of clothing that look best on your figure, stick with it! If you find a dress that emphasizes your great curves, or a skirt that sits just right on your hips, don’t be afraid to seek out similar styles. Not all bodies are created equal, so just because a certain clothing item looks good on someone else, doesn’t mean it will always be as flattering on your body, and vice versa. Shop with your own body in mind.

Always go for classic and clean looks over super trendy prints or unflattering fabrics. Too many frills and details can look silly or childish, but a classic design will always give an elegant and chic look, regardless of your size. Too much detail, embroidery or frilliness can also draw attention to areas that you may not want to draw attention to. As a general rule, the more simple the look, the easier it is to pull off.

Find clothes that fit your body. It can be easy to throw on baggy, loose, or oversize clothing to cover up your body, but try to resist! Baggy clothing can make you appear larger than you actually are and draw attention to your body in a negative way. Always try to find clothes that lightly skim over your body rather than loosely covering it up. Be careful, though. Clothing that is too tight can also look unflattering on everyone, regardless of size. Tight areas of clothing can create bulges and make the body look disproportional. The key is to find clothing that fits you well at a happy medium.

There are a few specific styles that tend to just look better on plus sized women in particular. Long tops and streamline dresses can help to elongate the body, making it appear more proportional. V-neck tops can have the same effect by creating a line down the body that creates a more elongated look. Those who want to show off their curves can also try wearing high waisted skirts, as these draw the eye inward at the waist’s smallest part, which will accentuate a womanly figure and give the illusion of appearing slimmer in the middle.

Dressing a plus sized figure may seem like a frustrating task, but remember that no matter what your style or clothing preferences are, wear what you feel most comfortable and confident in. Dress for yourself and not for anyone else (well, with the odd exception!) When you feel confident and happy, you will look confident and happy.
