New Year, New You? 5 Healthy Ways To Get To Goal

This year has been a toughie, and more than a few of us have put on a few pounds with the stress of lockdown and quarantines. Coronavirus busted out all of our plans this year and for a lot of people, diet and exercise suffered as a result. Firstly, we want to say it’s okay and secondly, we don’t judge you – it’s been a hard year and it’s better to gain a few extra pounds than lose your life because of the virus.

Now, just because it’s the New Year, and everyone loves a second chance in the New Year, we’re going to talk about getting back in control and eating well again. Yes, the pandemic is still happening, and yes, lockdowns will likely still be around for a while, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t control something! So, let’s talk about getting back to that goal weight of yours and feeling good once again with these five tips.

  • Start Now. It’s a New Year on the way, but if you want to get going now there’s nothing to stop you. Some people love to wait for the first day of the month before beginning an eating plan or starting NAD therapy, as there is a pattern and symmetry to it. It feels tidy, and so if you want to wait, wait, but if you want to start now there is nothing wrong with that, either! Start with your next morning and weigh in.
  • Affirmations Are Friends! It’s very easy to talk yourself into starting something, but it’s harder to continue it without motivation. Surround yourself with friends in the same situation that you’re in and don’t hold back. You can also paste affirmations to your mirror and your bedroom walls, and repeat them to yourself as you go. You need to get yourself pumped and you can with affirmations.
  • Hydrate. One of the key things for weight loss is hydration. You need to be on your water consumption and finishing 2-3 liters of water every day. Set this as a mini goal and stick to it. Once you get your water in per day, you’re going to feel better and your hair and skin will shine as a result. This will keep you going!
  • Sober January. Your 2021 needs to be as healthy as possible if you want to get back to goal and that means a little liver detox. Choosing to get through January without alcohol will make you feel far better on the inside, and you’ll be able to save yourself the calories, too. Of course, you don’t have to stay sober all year, but you can give yourself a head start into drinking less.
  • Snack Right. Fruit is not full of bad sugar that will make you fat. Snacks aren’t full of unhealthy things that will make you fat, either. You have to learn moderation and balance and repair your relationship with food properly, so that you can go forward with balance on the mind.
  • Listen To Your Hunger Cues. It’s very common for adults to have grown up with a bad relationship with food. So much so, we miss out on our own hunger cues and eat when we are bored, or sad, or for other reasons than hunger. To combat this, only eat when you’re feeling hungry and re-learn your body’s own cues again.
