The cleaning of the apartment before the move is devoted to cleaning areas and appliances that are not cleaned as usual, where should you focus? Look for the hidden areas
It is advisable to coordinate the cleaning of the apartment to which you will move when it is empty, before the movers arrive and preferably even a day or two before the day of moving. When the apartment is empty of furniture, the cleaning work will be more efficient and thorough and will ensure that you reach every corner of the house and clean it. Focus on cleaning areas that are not usually cleaned, such as over kitchen cabinets, refrigerators and high shelves – where a lot of dust accumulates. The filters of the air conditioner should also be thoroughly rinsed under the tap, the filters not only accumulate a lot of dust but also bacteria that may escape into the room space during each operation of the air conditioner.
The kitchen can be challenging. Most often, this is an active area where the main activity is cooking and eating so we may encounter greasy stains that are difficult to clean on the walls, kitchen cabinets and above them. Adapt the cleaning to the type of cabinet and the material from which it is made. Coated cabinets will be easily cleaned with dish soap and warm water, but if the stain is on solid wood a dedicated detergent should be fitted. If the kitchen has a steam collector, open it and clean the grease deposits with a dedicated degreaser for stainless steel.
Clean the bathroom
The walls of the bathroom and the bathtub are recommended to be thoroughly cleaned with water solution and snow jeweler, as well as the sinks, toilet and taps. The plastic seat of the toilet should be replaced or at least disassembled and thoroughly cleaned in the threaded area as well.
Handles, switches and racks
The handles and switches are some of the dirtiest objects in the house, we touch them with dirty hands from food or after visiting the bathroom and before moving to a new apartment it is important to clean them well with the help of the wonder sponge and wipes for general cleaning. If the power switches are very dirty and old, they can be easily replaced and their cost is low.
Marble countertops
It is important to disinfect the marble surfaces, but it is no less important to adapt the cleaning materials to the type of marble. Ceramics are cleaned using a solution consisting of a glass of water, a hot glass of lemon juice and a quarter cup of vinegar. Marble is cleaned with dish soap and water while granite marble is cleaned using a solution consisting of a quarter cup of alcohol (as pure as possible), a glass of water and 2 tablespoons of dish soap.
