Thinking of making a game room for your kids? I had a blast with family playing pinball a few months ago on a vintage handmade pinball machine. It was so cool. There are a few different types of pinball out there:
- pulley
- wedge
- lever
- screw
- wheel and axles
- inclined plane
You have to decide which type you want to make first. I played a pulley pinball machine, and i think they are probably the easiest to design. You can make a pulley by sticking a pencil through the center of a spool of thread. I am not going to pretend to be an expert on pinball, but you can find lots of easy diy pinball projects out there. Most just require a pre-designed pinball play field a few blocks of wood, a drill, screws, wire cutters and acrylic glass for the top of the machine. Then you can have a family fun night and maybe even add a competitive edge by keeping score. This can also make a fun project for shop class or a beginner woodworking project.
Of course, you can always just play a pinball game online for fun or ideas on how to design your own. This way you can get a feel for how the game and scoring works.
