Mad Dogs and Englishmen

Think back to what you were doing on New Year’s Day. Then have a look at the date and think about how fast that time has gone. Now think about how long we’ve got left until summer is here and compare it to how fast the time has gone that you were just thinking about. Scary, isn’t it. How do we manage to let moments escape us like that?

So, summer is basically around the corner and there are jobs in and around the home that need doing ahead of the season. It may feel like an age away, but we have just proved that it will be here before you know it.

Give It A Treat!

There are so many things that people have in and around the home which will need its own individual treatment. Mainly wooden furniture – if you have a wooden patio, garden furniture or planters, it is a good idea to get out the varnish and/or paint and get splash happy. Not only will it prolong the life of the objects that you are treating, but it will also make them look fresh for use during the upcoming seasons. You may find that you won’t have to do it again for a couple of years if you do the job properly.

Life Is Much Better Under The Water

If you are lucky enough to have a swimming pool, you may want to consider getting it heated properly if it isn’t already. You don’t have to spend a fortune on your electricity bills to power it either, if that’s a concern – you can now buy yourself a solar pool heater to warm up the water will no cost to yourself apart from the initial outlay. If that’s not an incentive to go ahead and buy one right away, what is? Free energy that you are getting on behalf of the sun is not only economical to you, but it is great for the environment as you are using a renewable energy source. So you can be smug for two reasons. Winner winner.

Get Pruning

Some people love spending their days gardening in nice weather, but when the weather starts getting better and better it can be unbearable. The midday sun can be so hot that it is a wonder if you actually get anything done in it, so while the weather is mild enough to be productive in, get out there and get the major work done. Bushes that need pruning, plants that need sowing, anything else major that needs doing so that all you need to do when the summer hits is water the greens and mow the lawn. While you’re doing it you could also have a think about rearranging your garden; you might like to put the furniture in a different place and try to think about the practical management of it for the future. It seems like such a boring chore to even think about it, but you will benefit from it in the long run.
