How To Frost A Double Layer Cake

Well most people probably already know how to do this, but I just did my first one and thought I’d write ‘er up for those of us who are not a baking extraordinaire! 🙂 Check out this best homemade icing ever recipe!

1. Bake the cake in 2 round trays and let cool (I made the mistake of not waiting long enough to do this – I am just too impatient!)

2. Place first cake upside down. Line the outside of the dish with wax paper to catch crumbs and stray icing. 3. Spread icing almost to the outer edge.

4. Put the second cake right side up on top of the first cake. A handy dandy cake leveler would make the cake very level and professional. As you can see, mine ended up just a teensy lopsided.

5. Put icing on the sides first, in upwards strokes.

6. Ice the top of the cake in swirls, and decorate how you wish!
