How to Find Your Creative Outlet

Playing the pianoBeing creative can sometimes, almost, feel like a burden more than anything else. What is it inside us that makes us want to create, to need to creative? We were created to create. To put our name on something and then it being accepted and enjoyed but other people, it’s a priceless feeling. People express their creativity differently, I’m a musician and writer so I’m able to express myself through my music and blogs, but my Dad gardens and expresses himself through that. It’s really all about you. I personally believe everyone is creative to some degree only people express it differently. I also believe all the senses are connected and that creativity can’t be limited or contained. What does creativity even mean? All it is, is taking something, anything, and applying it in a new way. So they key is to find what inspires you, then learn all you can about it so you can learn how to apply it. It’s almost like learning the box so you can learn how to think outside of it.

Lets looks at music for example:

If you are musically inclined and what to continue pursuing music, not even as a career but as a hobby, I suggest to take some classes from a music school – at least take lessons. Always be learning, always be stretching yourself. Creativity, especially in music, is always expanding. It’s called music theory for a reason, it’s just a theory. It’s like space, it’s constantly expanding and growing. So there will alway be more to learn. Put yourself in a place that you’re able to write or play and mess up, and it be okay. Music schools are great for that. They are also great because they will give you an attainable goal. So say you’re a drummer and you have a goal to be the best drummer in the world. You will live your life consistently frustrated because your goal is so impossible to obtain. Take drum lessons in Frisco, getting around people that have a simpler vision and focus, and then set a goal that you could reach in the next year in your surrounding area.

I think a lot of people think that creativity is something you’re either born with or without, and I don’t think that’s 100% the case. Being creativity is a skill like any other, and you have to practice it and exercise it to become better at it. So find what inspires you, and run with it.
