As a homeowner, we know that there are some home maintenance jobs that we all just want to avoid. In fact, we would probably do all the other things that we didn’t want to do to avoid some of these jobs. But, the fact that we all need to face is that they do need to be done whether we like it or not. So, what are some of these jobs that we would all rather not do? Let’s look at a few.
Clean The Fireplace
Getting all covered in soot and burnt wood is not our idea of a fun day, and it likely isn’t yours either. But, if you do have a fire, it is just one of those things that has to be done. Don’t even get us started on sorting out the chimney. The best thing that you can do here is to just get it over with. The longer you leave it, the worse the build-up is going to be, and you are going to hate it even more when there is more to clean. If you want to make this job easier for yourself, you could clean it out after every use. We know that this is something you aren’t going to want to do, but in the long run, it might save you a lot of time.
Empty The Rain Gutters
You might have heard stories about people paying teens to do this job. Or sending out a husband to climb the ladder and sort the gutters. But, sometimes these are not options that are available, and we just have to suck it up and do it ourselves. While it does not really take all day to do, it is definitely not a pleasant job to do. You can get all covered in muck, soggy leaves and all sorts like this. Make sure you are wearing clothes that are okay to get ruined because you don’t want to be upset that you ruined one of your favorite tips emptying the rain gutters.
Even though this is a particularly nasty job, if you don’t do it, you could be facing leaks in your home, and this is going to be far worse.
Empty The Dryer
We aren’t talking about taking the clothes out here, we are talking about your dryer vents. We all know that when we dry clothes, you need to empty the fluff that builds up. But what a lot of people don’t do is clean out their vents, and this is because it is not easy to do. So, what we suggest for this option is that you hire a dryer vent cleaning service to sort out this task for you. So, something we all would rather not do, but also something that we don’t have to do. Unless you know how to get to your dryer vent, you aren’t going to be able to do this anyway.
