Have Fun In Your Garden With These Top Tips

Most of us like to use the garden as much as we can when the sun is shining. Of course, this time of year means that we have to give our outdoor spaces a little more TLC. Gardening doesn’t have to be boring or tedious. There are plenty of ways to make these tasks fun. After all, they all lead to a better space to enjoy with more things to do with all the family.

It’s true that weeding is one of our most hated garden tasks. But it is possible to dramatically reduce how often you have to do it. For many of us, it’s the hassle of bending over the flower beds that we don’t enjoy. You can treat your knees to a soft foam board to prevent discomfort when you’re tending to the edge of your lawns. And they’re great little seats to perch on if you’re enjoying a picnic too. That little bit of extra padding can save you from a numb bum!

Mowing the lawn is another much-hated task. So why not invest in a little robot mower to take all the hard work and hassle out of your beloved lawn? Many people choose to install Zen gardens or patterned paving to do away with all the mowing completely. Of course, a patio provides a great surface for your dining set so you can enjoy a delicious alfresco dining experience. But won’t you miss all those picnics on the lawn?

If you have trees, these too can take a little bit of maintenance. Fortunately, trimming back branches is only required once a year. And the joy of tying lightweight hammocks to the trunks so you can nap or read in your garden is worth preserving! Leafy trees also provide much-needed shade in the height of summer. And what child doesn’t love jumping in the piles of leaves you’ve just gathered when they fall later in the year? If we’re totally honest, the leaf blower is plenty of fun to use too!

The joy of growing your own fruit and vegetables is something that can be shared with the whole family. After all your hard work preparing the soil, planting the seeds, and carefully watering the beds, the first shoots are so rewarding. And it is true that food prepared fresh from the garden really does taste better. Perhaps you can enjoy a delicious homegrown salad on the patio? Or maybe bake a hearty fruit pie?

Kids love to play out in the garden when the weather is warm and dry. Your lawn may double up as a soccer pitch. Or perhaps you’ll fill the paddling pool with cool water and enjoy a little splash? Gardens make a great space for a trampoline for everyone to enjoy bouncing around too. Your dog and cat might even join in the fun for a while.

Just like any other room in the house, your garden will need regular maintenance, tidying and cleaning too. But each of these tasks can be great fun to do, especially when they lead to even more fun activities. Love your garden space this summer.
