Rice is a staple of many families, but a lot of people, even if they eat it several times a week, never seem to get it just right. Sure, it might be ed8ible, but it isn’t the perfectly tender, fluffy foodstuff that they know it can be.

If that sounds all too familiar to you, here are some simple hacks to help you cook the perfect rice every time.

Use an Instant Pot

If you own an instant pot, you can save some time on reading the rest of these hacks and just take a look at this link on how to cook jasmine rice in an instant pot. The instant pot makes getting fluffy rice every time so much simpler that if you don’t have one, but you do eat a lot of fo rice, you might want to consider investing in one.

Know your rice

If you want to cook rice perfectly, you need to know what kind of rice you’re dealing with. Some rices are stick, some are fluffy and some are denser than average, and they all need to be cooked slightly differently to make the most of their unique properties. By ensuring you know which rice you are using, you can more easily get it right.

Rinse it

Rinsing dry rise before cooking helps to remove some of the stretched that coat the outer membrane of the grain. This is important because it stops your rice from sticking together and forming clumps. Place rice in a strainer and run a little waster over it for a few seconds and you won’t have that problem!

2:1 does not always work

It is common advice that you should use two parts water to one part rive, and although this often works out well, it is important to know that it is not always the best advice, For example, brown rice generally needs a ratio of 6:1 because it is much tougher and requires a lot more water to make it palatable. Bear that in mind when cooking your next batch.

Stop stirring

If you stir your rice when it is cooking, you need to stop doing that right now. Why? Because all this will do is make the rice more starchy. It will eventually become like the consistency of glue and stick together in the most unpleasant easy. Obviously, this does not apply if you are making risotto, but otherwise, leave the spoon alone.

Add a little oil

If you always have trouble with your rice grains sticking together when you do not want them to, adding a tablespoon of oil to the pan will usually help to prevent this from happening.

Use a heavy pan

If you’ve ever burnt rice, you will know how tough it can be to scrape it off your pan, so it is best not to have to deal with the problem in the first place!

Using a pan with a heavy bottom to cook your ride is probably the best way to prevent it from burning.

The perfect rice is within reach!
