It always amazes me just how many people overlook the importance of their garden. It seems we’re all keen to do work and renovations around the house, but how many of us step outside? The garden is such a wonderful place, full of magic and mystery. There’s so much we can do with it to turn it into our very own paradise.
Personally, I take a lot of pride in my garden, and I hold it in particularly high regard. If I could make a list of the most important areas of my home the garden would make the top three. I’m always looking for ways to improve my garden and keep it looking great. Here are some of the methods I like to use.
Mow the Lawn
It’s basic things like this that can make all the difference. Mowing the lawn and keeping it trimmed to a sensible level is important. The presentation is everything because your garden needs to be aesthetically pleasing. It takes a while for the grass to grow back, so there’s no excuse to let it get out of hand. I like to get the mower out every month just to keep on top of things.
Include a Water Feature
I think it’s very important for my garden to look exactly the way I want it to. And that is elegant, homely and beautiful. Like my very own backyard wonderland. To achieve this, I found a water feature added another dimension to the garden. It made such a difference I could hardly believe it! It also developed its own little ecosystem too. So my garden is now bustling with life all year round.
Bring in Experts
Something very important is making sure you get in experts once in a while. There are areas of your garden that you won’t be able to sort out yourself. For instance, you can mow the lawn, but you’ve got no influence on what happens beneath the surface. Lawn care is essential for longevity. So I bring in professionals now and then to treat my lawn with fertiliser, insecticide and herbicide. The result is a lush, green lawn that I couldn’t be prouder of.
I’m somebody who loves to embrace greener living. I suppose I might call myself something of an eco-warrior! So I’ve taken to growing food in my garden. I’ve created my own vegetable garden, and I’m using it to grow potatoes, courgettes and raspberries. And I’ll tell you what, it’s transformed the garden! For one thing, the patches where I’m growing things look good. And as a bonus I get to enjoy the freshest, home-grown, delicious produce,
As you can see, there is quite a lot that goes into maintaining my garden. But if you’re serious about making yours look wonderful you’ll need to do the same. A lot of this is straightforward stuff; it just might take you a while to get it all setup. But once you’re in the routine it’s much simpler to keep up with it.
