Bring the Inside … Out!

You know what’s boring? Staying inside all of the time, especially when it’s warm outside. As summer is fast approaching, there are a few things that you may want to consider purchasing to fill a little spare room in your garden. Don’t bring the outside in, but instead bring the inside out … create a space outdoors which you will fall in love with this year.

Tents aren’t just for camping…

Although camping is what tents were made for, you don’t have to use this as a reason for erecting one in your garden. Bell tents are increasing in popularity year on year, and you can see why; they are absolutely beautiful. They don’t take a degree to put up, they can come in a size to suit your garden (as long as you have at least 5m of room for the 4 metre ones … you have to take the ropes into consideration!) and you don’t just have to stick with the traditional cream canvas – they have started to be manufactured in a variety of colours. Using the 5 metre tent as an example, this can fit up to 12 people in comfortable sat around. It’s a great use of space to catch up and share stories with your friends, and if none of you feel like moving as the night draws to a close, you have the room to sleep in there too. They can be decorated as much or as little as you want, and there are always ideas floating around for how to jazz up bell tents.

Gazebos That Stick

If you’re looking for something a little more permanent, decorative without trying and classy, you could consider purchasing a gazebo. They offer shelter from most elements, so are great to retire to after a BBQ *or you could eat in there!) or to gather in on a lazy summers night. Check out all of the different styles of gazebos that are on offer – long gone are the days of flimsy pole-and-material; traditional gazebos are back with a vengeance and best of all come in a variety of styles, shapes and materials to suit your needs and tastes. They will always look stunning in any garden, so you can’t lose.

Garden Rooms are Extra Rooms

Probably on a par with a classic pool house in terms of status, garden rooms are making a revival this year. You don’t have to have lots of money to create a garden room; as long as you have a reasonably-sized shed available to you to do with what you wish, you can transform it into the hangout place of dreams. Strip it all back, treat the wood (if made of wood!), lay some cheap carpet down and pop some windows in if it is lacking them. Put up some cute curtains and there you have it – your very own garden room on a budget. You could even be extra cheeky and add a little bar into it, although be warned; once your guests arrive, they may never want to leave…
