Benefits of Boy Scouts

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Boy Scouts of America for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was a Brownie when I was little for a short period of time, until my family moved. I remember going on a camping trip with the other girl scouts, taking trips through the woods, singing by the fire and roasting marshmallows. There is so much more to it than even that (as if it’s not enough).

Camp Crafts – Dream Catchers, bear claw compasses, arrowhead necklaces, medicine pouches, neckerchiefs and other Indian crafts. In addition your children learn how to spot things in nature, important survival skills, leatherworking, woodworking, science, candles and other fun crafts.

Other benefits of being a boy or girl scout include:

  1. Stress relief. Many people may not think of Boy Scouts of America in these modern days, but they are still quite popular, not to mention a great and useful activity outside of school for your kids to socialize and relieve stress.Advertisement
  2. Fitness. Childhood obesity is a widely acknowledged epidemic in the US. If  your child decided to Be A Scout Youth Advocate, that would involve physical activity, fighting obesity or idleness (such as coming home from school to sit on WoW or play other console games). Your child will develop proper eating habits and learn a healthy lifestyle, increasing their chances of taking those life skills into adulthood with them.
  3. Learning technology. Boy scouts is introducing a new curriculum, emphasizing STEM: science, engineering, math and technology. There is even a Robotics merit badge! How cool is that?
  4. Family involvement. Club Scouting offers great values and beliefs in the importance of family relationships. It is easy for family to get involved with activities.
