Arts and Crafts in Central Jersey

Have you been to Central Jersey? They have a huge array of things to do in every capacity, and this also extends to their arts–whether it be museums, performing arts, music interests or shows, etc. A few popular locations I would love to point out:

  • American Reporty Ballet, located in New Brunswick. This is a school that entertains approximately 30,000 people annually. They are also known for the fact that they have been performing the Nutcracker every winter season since 1963.
  • The Arts Guild of New Jersey, located in Rahway. The Arts Guild New Jersey has a yearly program of fine art exhibits and 3 semesters of multiweek art classes for adults, teens and children. They also offer 1 day workshops and summer art workshops for kids.
  • Rutgers Gardens, located in New Brunswick. Rutgers is a self sustaining garden that spreads over 50 acres, with some areas dating back to 1927. One of the many things they are notorious for is the the largest collection of American Hollies in the world.
  • The William Miller Sperry Observatory, located in Cranford. The Sperry Observatory was founded on Nov 14, 1949 by a group of amateur astronomers. It now has over 300 members and provides courses, scholarships and lectures.Plays-In-the Park, located in Edison. Plays-In-the Park has been around for over 50 years, and produces three full scale Broadway type musicals each summer. In addition, they have a Children’s musical in the fall. The Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University, located in New Brunswick. The museum features Programs, PreK-12 resources, a cafe and many exhibitions. The museum has 4 to 5 cameo shows each year.
