I am slowly coming up with fun ways to mass-produce some cute jewelry for markets and fairs, and I decided these clams were super cute for summer. I didn’t get a chance to put up the tutorial until now, but it can be applied to any button early. Button earrings are so fun and easy! I am sure there are probably similar tutorials out there, but here is how I did mine:
Materials: Button shank remover, clam shell buttons, *earring posts and backs, hot glue gun | * not pictured |
Step 1: Remove button back with button shank remover. (Upper left is buttons without shanks) |
Add hot glue to earring post and quickly center it on the back of the button. |
Hold in place for 10-15 seconds for a firm grip. Repeat with second button. |

Sorry about the blurry pics. I am building a light box today (yay!) I will update the post with better pics as soon as I get the light box and make more earrings. I have made other shapes as well. They are fun, fast and easy–making them great choices for markets and fairs.
Jewellery making is so much fun, I have made lots in the past. Your earrings look great.
